Brian
Muhammad
Born and raised in New York City, Brian Muhammad began his public service in 1984 upon joining the movement of the Nation of Islam.
He served in various capacities at the Historic Mosque #7
in New York City, which led to an assignment to serve on the staff planning
the Nation of Islam National Convention which convened in Ghana, West Africa
in October 1994. An event where the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan spoke
to over 70,0000 people including the largest delegation of Blacks, numbering
more than 2,800, traveling from America back to Africa.
This assignment led to becoming an administrator in the organization’s Ghana
Mission stationed in Accra, Ghana. In this capacity Brother Brian,
• Administered the day to day affairs of the Ghana Mission
• Held weekly meetings – that facilitated the work of the Nation of Islam
among the people of Ghana.
• Initiated weekly meetings at the Liberian Refugee Camp in Budubarum, Ghana
as well as conducting humanitarian work at the camp site.
• Initiated the Prison Ministry in Jamestown Prison; where the Nation of Islam
donated books towards the prison library and Ministered to the inmate population.
• Appeared on radio talk shows and participated in speaking engagements and
programs at various institutions and community forums.
• Organized the International Muslim Youth Conference drawing over 1,500 participants
at the Accra International Conference Center. An event that attracted several
Ministers of Government as well as Muslim Leaders from Africa, North America,
and the Caribbean as resource people and speakers.
In addition to administrating the Ghana Mission, Bro. Brian served as the Assistant to the International Representative of the Nation of Islam. In this capacity he
• Assisted the International Representative in the planning,
preparation and administration of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan’s
World Friendship Tour III.
• Oversaw the dedication of the Alex Haley Mosque and School Project in the
Gambia, West Africa.
• Helped oversee the arrangements for the international guests attending the
Million Man March, Million Family March and the 10th anniversary of the
Million Man March that introduced the present Millions More Movement.
• In New York City conducted a three (3) part course on traveling
abroad. The purpose of the course was to teach the process of traveling abroad,
which included passport and Visa issues.
• Has traveled with the International Representative around the world to many
countries on behalf of the Nation of Islam. In these travels he has interacted
with several Heads of State and various other dignitaries.
• He also assisted in the organization and administration of the World Islamic
People Leadership conference which convened Islamic Scholars from around the
world in the city of Chicago under the leadership of President Muammar El-Qadhafi
and Minister Louis Farrakhan who hosted the conference and serves as the organizations
Deputy.
In addition to his international service, he owned and operated a Nurses Aide training school and a full service healthcare staffing agency for Nurses in New York City. The agency provided various levels of Nurses in Nursing Homes and Hospitals in the New York Metropolitan area.
Muhammad’s foundation years were growing up in New York City,
the youngest of four sons to Bennie and Marjorie. Early on as a youth he would
declare to them that one day, “I am going to return to the Motherland.” After
attending private and public Schools in New York City, he attended Morgan
State University in Baltimore Maryland as a Sociology Major where he joined
the movement of the Nation of Islam, accepting Islam as the best way of life
and service to the people. Thereafter he did return to the Motherland and
began his international service in the universal struggle of oppressed people
and the poor masses.
Mr. Muhammad is currently the founder and host of, The Sankofa Experience,
a weekly talk show that addresses the current state of affairs of Black people
as they stand globally. He can be heard on the internet radio station BlogTalkRadio.com
